The Night Before Summer School

I've thought that class has been easy so far, but I believe that the tide is about to change. Tomorrow I start student teaching (way on the Southeast side of Chicago, may I add) with a Chemistry teacher, of all things. My program has had a lot of positive experiences with him, so I am not too worried. I do wish, though, that I was placed with a Biology or Environmental Science teacher instead, especially since my future school cannot legally run a high school science lab. At least there is an Environmental Science teacher (albeit a first-year teacher) in the school, so I can ask him or her questions.

I'm eager to see how a summer school is run. I wonder, are students going to attend? (Most students have to repeat classes in summer school because of poor attendance during the regular year.) Will they be able to pay attention to one class for all four hours? Will it be a big concentration of 'troublemakers' or a fairly even distribution of personality types? Are the students really going to learn the material like they would if they were able to take it in the normal setting? Where will most of these students be coming from in the city?

Will it be similar to my first weeks in my "real" classroom at all?!
